Black Library Day
This is a little belated, so you'll have to forgive me, but I had a great time at Black Library Day last Saturday (it definitely beat the lack lustre FA Cup Final - dull).
For those not in the know, Black Library Day was a celebration of all the great novels, art books and other cool stuff that has been pedalled out of the Games Workshop's publishing subsidiary over the last ten years or so. I can't believe it's not been done before, and I think it went pretty well so it looks like it might happen again. Check the forums/news section on the BL site for future updates, methinks.
Anywho, as one of the Black Library commissioning editors by day (I like to use the superhero type analogy - it's just a shame there's no cool costume to go with my authorial alter ego...), I was asked by the nice people at Warhammer World in Nottingham to come along to the Games Workshop store there and do a little seminar of up-coming highlights.
For those who missed it there was a run-down of the rest of this year's releases, some far-future stuff and a shed load of cool art work (some of which was very far-future). I managed to get in a plug for Honourkeeper, too (thanks, as ever, Andy for your continued interest in this project). Incidentally, I'm going to post an update on this very soon and maybe some cover art if I'm allowed by my bosses.
It was actually really great to meet some of the Black Library faithful and hear what makes them tick, as well as try to answer their questions. Very insightful.
Thanks to one and all for coming and listening to me bang on for twenty minutes or so. At one point it looked like it was going to be a bit of a wash out, but it turned out very well with about thirty or so people in attendance. Hope you enjoyed it. Feel free to post your comments.
