Return of the blog and Wyrd Dreams news!
Well folks, all I can do is apologise. My shameless absence from my own blog is nothing short of reprehensible. Okay, so maybe it's not quite that bad, and I have been pretty busy of late.
Let me start again.
Happy New Year to one and all! My New Year's resolution. More writing. More blogging.
So, here I am.
I don't know how a lot of other bloggers do it, but I like to plan my blogs in advance. True, some are off the cuff: a movie I might have seen or a TV series I'm watching, maybe a book I've read. In the main, though, I like to plan them. Something I plan to blog about in the future is 'shreddies' and, no, I'm not talking about the popular lattice breakfast cereal, I am of course referring to the literary character who's soul purpose is to get... er... dead, I guess. They are a useful tool in any writer's arsenal but one that should be treated with caution. But that's one for later, when I'm feeling a bit more lively (getting back into the swing of things, work-wise, is always a tough on).
For now I'd like to leave you in the sure and certain knowledge that a second blog post follows this, none other than the promised Wyrd Dreams chapter one (my follow up to Back from the Dead). Now, this looks to be growing into a bit of a beast (initially, I'd planned a short story but I reckon a novella is more likely now). I'm going to post chapter one today and then chapter two will follow a month later (yes, I know it's a while but I don't want to give you too much too soon and leave you hankering too long for more). Hopefully, this will slake your thirsts for Necromunda violence until I can get around to penning the subsequent chapters.
By way of a prelude to what it to come, Wyrd Dreams picks up five years after the end of Back from the Dead (which is doing great at libraries, in spite of the fact it sold out in stores years ago, so thanks to all those folks who borrowed it). Bane has now taken up his position as hive city judge and Alicia is working in one of the many factory districts in Hive City. All is not going well, though, as Bane is still tortured by nightmares of his ordeal during the neurone plague outbreak and let's just say that not all of the bad guys he nailed last time around stayed dead... Oh yeah, and Alicia has given birth to her kid and there's a murderer on the loose who has a thing for capping wyrds...
